熊本県西原村は、熊本市の中心地から東へ約20km、熊本都市圏と阿蘇カルデラ（南郷谷）の間にある村です。

2016年4月16日 午前1時25分頃に発生した「平成28年熊本地震(震度7)」により大きな被害を受けました。

西原村立河原小学校のある地域は、河原富士と呼ばれる高畑山を望み、きれいな水があふれる白糸の滝や緑豊かな浜の谷を抱える自然豊かなところです。

Nishihara Village in Kumamoto Prefecture is located about 20 km east of the center of Kumamoto City, between the Kumamoto metropolitan area and the Aso Caldera (Nangō Valley).

It suffered significant damage from the “2016 Kumamoto Earthquake (Seismic intensity 7)” that occurred around 1:25 a.m. on April 16, 2016.

The area where Kawahara Elementary School in Nishihara Village is located overlooks Takabatayama, known as Kawahara Fuji, and is rich in nature, with attractions such as the Shiraito Waterfall, overflowing with clean water, and the lush Hama-no-tani Valley.
